Your Exterior Painting FAQs

Davis Painting has the answers!

With Davis Painting’s decade-plus of experience, we’ve assisted thousands of homeowners and businesses put the color back into their lives and those around them! With all those projects, questions arise! Here are the top five for the season, and are updated regularly!

Mild, dry weather with temperatures between 50–85°F is ideal. Avoid painting during rain, extreme heat, or when humidity is high.

Most homes benefit from repainting every 5–10 years, depending on the siding material, climate, and paint quality.

Fading color, peeling paint, cracking, chalky residue, or visible moisture damage are all signs it's time for repainting.

Surface prep is essential. If old paint is peeling or flaking, it must be scraped and sanded before applying new paint to ensure adhesion.

Sprayers offer speed and smooth coverage, while brushes and rollers are best for precision and textured surfaces. Often, a combination is used.
